The number of DRG subject to Medicare’s post-acute transfer policy is GROWING!

1. October 1, 1998 – only 10 DRGs were “classified” as Transfer DRGs.
2. October 1, 2003 – Expanded to 30 Transfer DRGs.
3. October 1, 2005 – Expanded to 182 Transfer DRGs.
4. October 1, 2006 – Expanded to 190 Transfer DRGs.
5. October 1, 2007 – Expanded to 273 Transfer DRGs.
